BIOGRAPHY

SHAKILA MOHAMMADI was born and raised in Afghanistan. In 2018, following her graduation from high school, she began her legal education by enrolling in the Bachelor of Law program at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), driven by a strong commitment to the legal profession and the rule of law. During that time, she also served as a legal intern at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
In 2021, following the Taliban’s takeover of the government and the subsequent closure of educational institutions for women, Shakila was forced to leave Afghanistan. She relocated to Kurdistan, Iraq, where she continued and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Law at the American University of Iraq–Sulaymaniyah.
Shakila immigrated to the United States in 2023 and was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Illinois College of Law. There, she pursued her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree, graduating in December 2023. Her academic excellence was recognized with the Dean’s Award for maintaining the highest GPA during both semesters of her LL.M. program.
After graduating from UIUC, Shakila began working as a law clerk at Maatuka Al-Heeti Emkes in 2024 while simultaneously preparing for the New York Bar Examination. She successfully passed the bar in 2025 and is now a licensed attorney in the State of New York.
